Loadout of equipment is ongoing at Nigg Energy Park to begin the installation of four, 1.5MW turbines.
The MeyGen project aims to deliver a fully operational renewable energy plant of almost 400MW powered purely by the tide. The demonstration phase (Phase 1a) of the project is has commenced construction and it that which is about to be installed. Phase 1a has been financed using a combination of debt, equity and grants from a funding syndicate which includes The Crown Estate, the Scottish Executive, the Department of Energy and Climate Change and Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
